Watch the 2024 Corvette E-Ray Presentation with Team Corvette
September 4, 2023Watch the 2024 Corvette E-Ray
Presentation with Team Corvette
Mike was not able to make it to Carlisle this year, but our friends at Corvette Blogger were, and they sent us the video above.
In the video, Team Corvette (Executive Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter, vehicle chief engineer Josh Holder) presented the 2024 Corvette E-Ray. The team calls the new E-Ray the Swiss Army Knife of Corvettes. It can do just about anything with the first ever All-Wheel-Drive system for America’s Favorite Sports Car. Tadge explained they always wanted to do an AWD Corvette, but it was impossible with the front mounted engines found in previous generations. Tadge says they explored both the traditional method of running a driveshaft to the front wheels and using electric motors, but an electric motor driven system offered much more capability. Once they decided to go electric, the E-Ray name was trademarked in 2015.
Some of the answers the team gave during the Q&A portions was the price ($104k to start) and when would it start manufacture (Fall of this year as long as there is not a UAW strike). The ramp up for the E-Ray build will be a slow curve to make sure there are no unseen issues, so don’t expect a flood of cars right off the bat. They will also be building base C8’s and Z06’s during the same time period, on the same line.

This is my second Vette. The first one was a 1985 that I had for three years and had to sell it, when my son turned 16 and got his drivers license. The insurance premium went through the roof.
When I retired, I bought a 1968 Firebird and kept that for 16 YEARS. It got to be too labor intensive and expensive to keep up so I sold it three years ago. That is when I purchased the Vette I have now. It is a 2009 Base Model, 3LT, with targa top and the performance package. Lots more car than a 74 year old man needs, but it is a lot of fun to drive. My son (46 now) can’t believe the power this car has, relative to the 85 Vette and the 68 Firebird. Glad he lives in AZ now, otherwise I’d never get to drive it… LOL!
